About us
Jersey Swimming Club has an unrivalled history within Island swimming and a special place within the local community, built around traditional family values whilst affording modern day aims and ambitions.
The Club is currently investing a significant amount of time and resource building for the future. Improving the services and opportunities it offers, which includes building on an already full program from Parent and Baby/Toddler and Learn-to-Swim, onwards and upwards to senior swimmers with National aspirations and Masters with renewed ambition!
Our philosophy is to create opportunity and to encourage every swimmer to be the very best they can, within a friendly environment.
We offer a safe, structured swimming and social environment for all ages. For those who take a competitive route there are opportunities to travel, starting with Guernsey at nine and Southampton at tenthen with locations such as Spain, France, Crete and Island Games locations for those who make the team.
Based at Langford, St Helier - Jersey’s newest 25 Metre pool with modern state of the art facilities, we also extend our facilities to meet demands of those who live in other areas by offering sessions at Aquasplash and Les Quennevais pools.
We have a whole host of Coaches and Teachers with varying Swimming teaching, coaching and life saving qualifications and experience. Supported by an administration team who deal with all Learn to Swim paperwork, competition entries, and all the day to day routine elements that help the whole club operate smoothly.
But... The best way to find out more about what we do and how we can help you is to pop in and see us. Our full schedule can be found on the JSC Schedule page.

Carole Penfold MBE
President. Jersey Swimming Club
admin@jersey-swimming-club.org
Qualified ASA Referee
Qualified First Aider
Carole joined Jersey Swimming Club in the 1970s when her two daughters, Tina and Julie, became members. They went on to join the Competitive Squad and both enjoyed trips away as members of the team. Julie became an Island Champ in 1979 when she won 4 out of 5 of the available events. Carole was Vice President in 1986 but took a break from membership when her daughters stopped swimming. She later returned as Club Administrator and Licensee for the Pool View Cafe at Fort Regent, a very strong social venue for the club at that time. Since then she has seen the club move to the Aquasplash and to Langford and has been involved in the growth of available lessons from Parents & Babes/Toddlers, Learn to Swim, Development and Competitive Squads, Swim for Sport, and Masters. Becoming Hon. President in 2009. Carole maintains that the growth of the Club is down to the excellent team of coaches and teachers who are all dedicated to the sport and says "Having been founded in 1865 it is the duty of all members to pass the thriving club on to the next generation." Her words are so true - this is such a precious and worthy club that blends communities and offers opportunity to all.

Andy Aird

LEARN TO SWIM TEAM
Tricia Barrett.
Aka - Trish the Fish!
Swimming Development Manager
Level Two Teacher
Transition Coach - Dolphins
Committee Member
contact: development_manager@jersey-swimming-club.org
Although an avid sports person at school, Tricia didn't learn to swim till she was 14 - An awkward experience but one that has served as a reminder of how it feels; and the experience of which she draws on when teaching, particularly to children who are afraid of the water. However, having learnt quickly and technically from then onwards she had a brief spell in competition before becoming a Life Guard and Swimming Teacher herself at 16.
"Teaching swimming is my art and I wouldn't be without it. To give a child the opportunity to swim confidently, skillfully, beautifully and sometimes with great success is just so satisfying, it's a skill that I'm very gratefull to have."
Tricia took the roll of Swimming Development Manager at JSC after many years at Tigers Club and has helped build and manage the Learn to Swim Programme, as well as passing on some of her knowledge to help new teachers. "There are always fresh ideas and new ways of teaching to discover - and they could come from anyone or anywhere. You have to keep your eyes and minds open then be prepared to learn and evolve!"
If you want to talk 'Swimming' - email or Facebook Tricia anytime, day or night.

COVER TEACHERS
Sarah Anne Foot

Sarah is one of our more experienced Teachers but due to an exciting role within the Fire Brigade she has had to reduce the number of lessons she is able to do. However, she remains a vital member of the Teaching team and hopefully we will have greater use of her expertise in the future.
